Oldfield stayed in touch with the Southern Counties South's promotion pace-setters on Saturday with a 10-6 win over Dorchester at Shaft Road. And they had No 8 Andy Ross, back in action after a three-month injury lay-off, to thank for their victory.
Ross grabbed the winning try in the second half, keeping Oldfield in the top four of the division just four points behind league leaders Walcot.
Oldfield's other unconverted try came from Sean Jones with a fine individual effort in the first half.
Richard Beaman kicked two penalties for the visitors.
Walcot's scheduled top-versus-second clash at Wootton Bassett was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
