Some basic ground rules were unanimously agreed at a meeting attended by: Ben Staunton-Club Coach, Lee Sumsion-1st XV Captain, Jason Humphries-2nd XV Captain, Andy Murphy-3rd XV Captain, Jerry Burns-Chairman & Pat Bunton-Treasurer/Trustee.
A Selection Committee comprising of Club Coach and the three team Captains will meet each Tuesday, after training.
Captains to retain the final say on selection, with input from the Coach with the aim of selecting the strongest side, whilst also looking to ensure that progression, based on merit up and down through the teams is the norm.
Players dropped/rotated are expected to play for the side(s) below, as this is in theirs and the clubs best interests.
PLAYER AVAILABILITY
The Selection Committee need a clear idea of player availability and want to avoid selecting on a ‘best guess’ basis.
As such we have agreed that:
a) Saturday - players will be asked to indicate availability for the next 2 weeks.
b) If no longer available due to injury, holidays etc, players must notify a member of the Selection Committee by 6pm on the Tuesday.
c) If any player withdraws after selection then they should normally expect to be selected in the side below for the following week.
COMMUNICATION OF SELECTION
1st XV Ben Staunton will communicate selection to the Forwards and Lee Sumsion to the Backs.
2nd & 3rd XV Jason Humphries & Andy Murphy will respectively confirm selection to their sides.
THE ABOVE POLICIES WERE AGREED UNANIMOUSLY SO PLEASE SUPPORT THEM AND HELP US MAKE THE SELECTION PROCESS MORE ROBUST AND LESS LIABLE TO LAST MINUTE CHANGE. |
