But not in Maroon and Amber:-
They did however; Make their first senior appearance on the Rec for the blues and whites of Bath's Development XV on Sunday 14 October, in the shape of Freddie Burns - Fly-Half, Sean Lilley - Centre and Mark Lilley - Hooker. The young guns, along with seven experienced Premiership players in the squad, dominated the game with quick flowing passes and a strong Bath pack meant, that they stormed to an impressive 87 - 0 victory against the Royal Navy U23 Development XV.
Fly - Half Freddie Burns, who joined Bath Academy in May 2006, scored a try from the scrum that went straight in under the posts in the 33rd minute of the game. The Royal Navy U23 however, did not give in easily and Bath Development XV found themselves defending their own line, but managed to end the first half with a 44 - 0 lead.
They further capitalized on their lead in the second half by putting on a first rate demonstration of running rugby. Sean Lilley, who joined the U19's last season whilst he was still at school, played a full part in the match coming on at 13 along with his brother Mark Lilley; who made a welcome return after long injury lay-offs coming in at Hooker.
With the U19 squad no longer in existance, all three lads hope to work their way into the Bath Development & United teams, whilst continuing to enjoy and play regular rugby at Oldfield.
Well done lads.
Tries: Perry 3, Cuthbert 3, Baxter 2, Griffiths 2, Burns, Penny, Thomas, Ward, Clarke. Cons: Burns 2, Cozens 4. |
