Everyone contributed to a passionate and exhilirating performance at North Dorset on Saturday afternoon.
To come back from trailing 20 - 3 with 30 minutes remaining on the clock added extra vigour to the momentum that we are building. To win 5 games in succession has really lifted the players confidence and we now know that we can compete with the top sides in the league. We defended extremely well in the first half and North Dorset could have been out of sight by half time, but we all stuck together and ensured that the game was not out of reach. With Jamie Harrop's late withdrawal due to injury and Ricki Gibson 'running' late Jase made his first start for the first XV this season. He lasted 50 minutes until his rib injury forced him from the field... and then we started to run in the tries!!! Freddie, Joel and Lils continued to bond in midfield and Freddie and Joel shared the 23 points with some extremely well taken tries. The passion and effort that they put into their scores were clearly evident as the battered their way through the last line of defence and reached out with their arm to just get the ball over the line. Freddie's attitude in particular deserves credit as his efforts lifted the energy in the team. Although we failed to dominate the set piece, we almost drove North Dorset over from a line out in the second half, and the forwards were a constant nuisance to the opposition all afternoon. Special thanks to Ricky, Jase and Cliffy who managed to play with contrasting injuries and ailments, and to put minds at rest I've asked Chris Liberty to stock up on some immodium for the future!!! Well done everyone, let's put in the same performance again next week. Tries: Hawkins (2); F Burns Cons: F Burns Pens: F Burns (2) |
