Six-try Oldfield moved to within touching distance of a Southern Counties South promotion berth after a thumping 41-3 win over Ivel Barbarians. The Shaft Road side lost their first three outings of the season, but Ben Staunton's men have not looked back since, winning each of their last six matches.
Oldfield coped well with the Yeovil-based outfit's big pack and Ivel simply had no answer to the home side's back-line play and clinical finishing. Oldfield took just two minutes to get their noses in front and they never looked like easing off, piling on the agony for Ivel with half-a- dozen touch-downs. The star turns for home side were Joel Hawkins and Chris Quinton, who both grabbed try doubles, with No 8 Alex Woods and fly-half Freddie Burns both scoring a touch-down apiece. Burns added a penalty and four conversions. |
