Shaft Road has again been a busy location throughout Summer 07.  Apart from preseason training, works have been ongoing throughout the closed season with notable improvements to both our clubhouse and grounds.  The committee has made significant efforts to maximise potential for improvement to our facilities whilst remaining helpful to all contractors carrying out some challenging engineering works.

Ritchies remobilised to our carpark in May 07 to carry out the construction of a 2.5m diameter vertical shaft to create, ventilation through flow, to a shaft in Mount Pleasant Mine.  This work was undertaken on behalf of Bath & North East Somerset Council and has now been completed along with resurfacing to our carpark area.

Some additional landscaping bunds have been installed to our site boundary adjacent to both clubhouse and carpark.  These have been seeded with further landscaping planned for next year.  These bunds further define our site boundary with minimal future maintenance requirements.

Several working parties over the summer months have completed a significant amount of works to both the clubhouse and the grounds.  

The following summaries the works that have been carried out:

•    Surface renewal to the club carpark.
•    New goal post protectors and flags to all pitches.
•    Existing goal posts renovated & painted.
•    All pitch side barriers/handrailing painted.
•    Barbeque area established/fenced adjacent to clubhouse.
•    General scrub clearance/maintenance to whole site.
•    Establishment of ancillary kit storage facilities.
•    New security door to electrical outhousing.
•    External electrical switching moved to the clubhouse.
•    Construction of boundary bunds to the rear/side of the clubhouse and carpark.
•    Floors to changing rooms/shower block repainted.
•    Installation of overhead projector & screen to bar area.
•    Continued on site treatment of Japanese Knotweed adjacent to pitches.
•    Clearance of scrub to boundary stone wall on Shaft Road.
•    Tree pruning to our northern boundary.
•    Annual spring spraying to all boundaries.
•    Refurbishment to advertising hoardings.
•    Levelling to surface of training pitch.
•    Refurbishment of the training pitch flood lights.

The committee would like to thank all those who helped/contributed to the works over the summer period.  The efforts to date will further reduce annual maintenance and enhance our already excellent facilities.
