Oldfield Former player-coach Andy Boyce is set to revert to his familiar outside centre role for Oldfield when the Shaft Road side make the Southern Counties South trip to Ivel Barbarians.
Boyce traded his boots for running shoes at the end of last season, but drifted back to Oldfield after discovering that he was missing rugby.
"We played him at open-side in our last match to help him get a game under his belt and he went very well," said captain Lee Sumsion.
"This weekend against Ivel Barbarians, he'll go back to outside centre and we'll see what he offers us in a more familiar position."
Boyce will wear the No 13 shirt in a re-jigged Oldfield back division with Joel Hawkinsmoved from inside centre to fly-half to cover the absence of England Under 18 call-up Freddie Burns.
"We beat Ivel Barbarians by a comfortable margin earlier in the season but the score-line flattered us a bit that day," admitted Sumsion.
"We want to come back with a win to keep us going and to help us build into a tough Combination Cup tie against Frome on December 22." |
