Bath United completed a handsome double for the club over Gloucester,
following up the senior side's 10-5 Guinness Premiership win at The Rec last Friday night, with a thumping eight-try 56-14 Guinness A league win at Cleve on Monday evening. The result marked the completion of an A League double over Gloucester after a thrilling 42-28 win at Kingsholm earlier in the season.
While Gloucester side fielded scrum-half Mike Prendergast, wing Mark Foster and tight-head prop Jack Forster, who all have Premiership experience, Bath included eight first-teamers, among them flanker James Scaysbrook, prop Lorne Ward and wing Ian Davey.
Davey and academy centre Sean Lilley scored two tries apiece and Mike Baxter, Chris Goodman and Chris Jones also touched down with a penalty try making for eight tries, all of them converted by inch-perfect fly-half Luke Cozens. In an entertaining contest, both teams ran the ball at every opportunity with the help of sympathetic refereeing from former Premiership regular Ashley Rowden.
Gloucester, though, struggled to cope with Bath United's strength and pace, mustering two tries, both converted by fly-half Mark Davies.
