Humphs army crushed Gordano for the second time this year by scoring 7 unanswered tries.
Once again Russ HoneyBum was man of the match, largely as a result of a spectacular tackle count, outstanding work in the line out, great support play in the loose........and well......just about everything else!!!! Sam Lane also underscored that he is a quality centre with some great angles and strong running seeing him pick up two tries. Time and again he and Froggy manufactured time and space for the agrophobic Andy Taylor, but poor old Andy was visibly shaken kept asking his colleagues not to put him into so much space. Up front Hick 'Rain Man' Thomas was having a love affair with the Gordano No 2 and Young HoneyBum showed the watching Rocky what a decent No 2 line out jumper looked like. Humphs and Murph, huffed and puffed as usual and the aged half backs of Bunti and Reader used the steady flow of posession won by the 'grunts' wisely. Jon Fielding and Shadow again ran some tidy support lines and full back Chris Ericson looked assured in defenceand attack, as did young Ben Escott. When Oldfield played with patience and went through two or more phases the space inevitably opened up and the threequarters, often prompted by strong lines from Froggy and Sam ran their opponents ragged. Credit where credit is due, the grunyts also contributed with some good driving mauls from which the Rain Man muscled over for two scores. All in all a pretty complete team performance - had all the chances created been taken, the score could easily have exceeded 70. |
