S Counties S & SOUTH WEST Oldfield will be facing their second match in four days on Saturday when they tackle Oakmeadians at home in Southern Counties South.
The Shaft Road clash pits the fifth-placed home side against the side immediately above them in the table with any last chance of promotion already gone for both clubs. With three games to play, league leaders Trowbridge look favourites to go on and take the title with second-placed Wootton Bassett and Frome in a two-horse race for the second promotion slot. Oldfield's biggest problem ahead of Saturday's match may well be recovering from their Somerset Cup semi-final exertions against Clevedon at Bristol Harlequins' Brislington ground last night. Two attempts to play the match on weekends when no league fixtures were scheduled fell through with the weather intervening a fortnight ago and Clevedon's prior Bristol Combination Cup commitment getting in the way last weekend. |
