Oldfield skipper Lee Sumsion read the riot act to his side this week after the Shaft Road side missed out on an appearance in next month's Bath Combination Coors Cup final after they went down to a surprise 22-12 semi-final defeat at Midsomer Norton last Saturday.

Oldfield were the favourites to book a cup final showdown with either holders Chippenham or Bath University, who will play their semi-final in 10 days' time, at The Rec on Wednesday, May 7.

But Sumsion saw his side muster just four Charlie Perry penalties in a way below-par performance against side who ply their trade two levels down in Somerset Premier.

"We didn't go out with the right attitude," said Sumsion.

"Too many of our side thought we just had to turn up to win and Midsomer Norton, to their credit, had other ideas.

"They wanted it more than we did, we never looked like winning the match and good luck to them in the final next month.

"As for us, we need to buck our ideas up. We have two Southern Counties South matches left, starting with Saturday's trip to Wimborne, and I want back-to-back wins to finish the season on a positive note.

"Nothing short of that will make up for missing out on the chance to play on The Rec in the final of a competition which means a great deal to local clubs."
