England Under 18 and former Bath Rugby Academy and Oldfield fly-half, Freddie Burns, who has signed a two-year contract with Gloucester, heads for Argentina at the end of this month.
Hailed as one of the brightest fly-half prospects in the country, Burns has been selected for England's three-week tour to South America.
The squad will play six warm-up games in Tucuman, Buenos Aires and Mendoza before tackling Argentina Under 18 on Sunday, August 3 in Buenos Aires.
"I am really grateful for my time at Bath and now I'm looking forward to a good tour for my country and a positive season with Gloucester," said Burns.
"Although I've played for England before in the Home Nations, this will be my first tour and my first trip to South America.
"I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience and hopefully act as a stepping stone for me to keep advancing my career."
Burns, who lives in Swainswick, retains strong links to the Oldfield club after turning out for them regularly in Southern Counties South last season.
His father, Jerry Burns, is the Shaft Road club's chairman and still turns out for Oldfield 2nd on a regular basis. |
