Walcot and Oldfield meet tomorrow at Albert Field, Lansdown in a
derby clash which will see the heaviest-hitting junior clubs in the
city lock horns for the first time in two years. The pair have met
three times - once in the Bath Combination Coors Cup semi-finals and
twice in the league - when both were competing in Western Counties
North.
In the league, it was honours even with Walcot taking the cup tie on the away clubs rule after a 6-6 draw at Shaft Road.
Both
have since switched to Southern Counties South and they are the
short-odds bets to slug it out for the divisional title and the
automatic promotion slot between now and next April.
Oldfield's
chances of pulling off another successful cross-city raid will be
hampered by the absence of fly-half Joel Hawkins and centre Andy Boyce,
who are serving suspensions.
Coach Kevin
Moggridge looks certain to stick with the nucleus of the team which got
the season off to a flying start with a 50-12 home win over Sherborne
last weekend.
For Walcot, tomorrow's game will be about exacting revenge for an early-season defeat by Oldfield two years ago.
Walcot
skipper Terry Hughes and coaching team Pete Blackett and Steve Ojomoh
have made changes to the side that won 29-5 at North Dorset last
weekend.
Danny Williams and James Gay return at No 8 and scrum-half respectively and Dan Bromage moves from the back to second row.
In
the back division, Tom Crockett and Dave Wilby switch positions, with
Wilby going to inside centre to play alongside fit-again Joel Dixon and
Crockett moving to fly-half.
While Oldfield
and Walcot, as expected, got their campaigns off to winning starts,
Trowbridge will also be looking to make it two out of two at Sherborne.
Cooper
Avon Tyres, meanwhile, face a second successive away trip to Dorchester
tomorrow after the long haul to Bridport last weekend culminated in a
29-0 defeat. Dorchester lost 29-8 at Wimborne last week.
